The NSS Unit of THK Jain College celebrated Shramdaan Utsav organized by Sister Margaret Foundation, Kolkata on 17th of August, 2023 by planting rice on cultivated land to support and thank the farmers for their perennial contribution in feeding India.
14 students from the departments of B.Com, BBA, Botany and three
college staff went to Chhota Jaguli, Khal Par, Near BDO Office Barasat,
24 Pgs (N), WB, India for this purpose.
The College arranged bus for the journey and the squad left for their
destination at 11:30A.M. in the morning. After reaching the destined
place, the group was greeted whole-heartedly and they engaged in a
significant act of environmental contribution by joining in rice
plantation activity.
The chief Guest of Honour was Anjan Maharaj from Ramkrishna Mission, Russia.
This experience not only fostered a sense of building a strong
community and responsibility among the students but also emphasized upon
the importance of sustainable practices and team-work. The collaboration
between The NSS Unit of the college, students and Sister Margaret
Foundation, Kolkata showcased a united effort towards creating a greener
future.
